Pathibhara Rug House was founded by Tsering Thinduk Sherpa in 1984 with experience of weaving rug in his young age and now, it run downs as a family business. Tsering’s initiation for this business started off with the experience as an artisan for more than 10 years and with the addition of 15 other highly motivated artisan at first. As the days passed, number of artists increased and new designs were designed which held the company’s reputation exceed beyond the factory wall inviting interest from abroad.
Pathibhara was established with the vision to produce a superior quality rug by using tibetan craft of hand knotting rugs with the artisan with experience of more than 10 years in craftmanship. Pathibhara has committed itself for the production of superior quality rugs. Pathibhara is owned and managed by professionals engaged in the rug industry for generations, the company prides itself in manufacturing and export of handmade rugs of superior quality and are highly specialized in hand knotted rugs, handmade woolen cotton and viscose rugs including a wide range of other rug items used majorly for household purpose and hospitality industry. Pathibhara is synonymous to production of high qualities rug with a good reputation and image amongst the rug buyers. Pathibhara has brought all major department of rug manufacturing under a same roof to ensure quality and consistency at every production point for our rug enthusiasts. From raw materials production to finalization and weaving from loom to finishing in warehouse, all the production activities are accompanied under the same area. Above all, Pathibhara’s rugs are the celebration of the hearts, minds, and hands of the Nepal through its designs, uniqueness and flickering colors that will reflect, showcase, and inform future generations its cultural values.
Social Initiatives
Health Camp: Pathibhara’s biggest aim is to make the business sustainable while keeping close eye on their physical and mental state of their artisans. Pathibhara holds health camp periodically under the supervision of health experts. And in case of further treatment, we proceed to hospital as per the referral of health experts.
Free Education: Pathibhara fully sponsor’s the education of its artisan’s children upto grade 10 and 50% sponsorship in college level. More than 15 students has already passed Grade 10 level and currently 15 students are holding their primary level education.
Education for All: It is an initiative initiated by the Managing Director of Pathibhara Rug House Mr. Tsering Thinduk Sherpa which holds the primary objective to provide basic education to elderly artisans. This initiative mainly brought in practice to make artisan at least do the basic calculation of their accounts.
Energy Alternative: Pathibhara is always concerned about the consumption of resources. We prefer alternative energy sources like Solar energy in order to conserve and reduce energy consumption. From the dying process to finishing of rug, we mainly use solar energy as a main source.
Artisan Engagement: For Pathibhara ,artisan are their biggest assets, so ,we hold up timely meetings with their participation to know their views on ongoing process of work and the ideas of improvement to be made in falling areas. We also acknowledge their choices and changes to be made in the company and keep their views while making any decisions.
In most of the cases, artisan who have weaved rug with their own hands might not have seen finished rug in their lifetime , so we also manage to take away them from regular working environment to our showroom to let them view their artistic works they have created with their skills. That certainly brings valuable smile on them and charms on their face!!!
